Chapter 10 Hospital Disaster

"I will have someone take care of that," Mr Scott said and fetched his phone.

He dialled a number and after confirming the name of the hospital spoke to someone instructing the person to go to the hospital and get rid of Ana and the baby.

"Now that is taken care of. Tomorrow I will be meeting with the senator and we can finalize the marriage arrangement," Mr Scott said.

"That is perfect," Mrs Scott said.

"I will be in my room," Ruth said and left the living room.

Back at Aiden's apartment, Aiden was lying on the sofa of his small office asleep with the empty bottle of whisky and glass on the floor. Angela turned off the lights and went to bed after completing her duties for the day. So did all the servants to their rooms.

At the hospital, Haga was on night duty. Dr Jerome prepares to leave for home after assigning Haga to attend to Ana. His shift will start again in the morning. He was doing a straight day, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. He had stayed in the hospital till late because of Ana. After instructing Haga on what to do, he went to check on Ana one more time before leaving for his home, It was past 10 p.m. Halfway through the journey, Dr Jerome remembered something he forgot to do. He fetched his phone and sent a message to someone at the hospital to take care of that.

Back at the hospital, a young lady walked in at 11 p.m., in the company of an elderly woman. She helped the elderly woman to a seat in the waiting area and walked to the lady at the reception. The lady had an expression of sadness registered on her face when she approached the lady behind the desk.

"Good evening, I am Alice. Please, I heard my sister was brought here this evening. That is our mother," the young lady said and the lady at the reception stared at her and the woman she pointed to.

"What is the name of your sister?" the lady behind the reception desk asked.

"Ana Morrison. She is pregnant," replied the young lady.

The lady behind the reception desk looked at her laptop and gave Ana's ward number to the young lady.

"Thank you," the young lady appreciated and the lady behind the reception desk watched as the young lady went back to the elderly woman and they both headed in the direction of Ana'a ward.

At 11: 20 p.m., Haga decided to check on Ana before taking her brief nap since the hospital was less busy. At the same time, the lady at the reception saw two men coming from the ward's side heading for the exit. She watched them leave without saying anything.

At the family house, Mr Scott was getting ready for bed with Mrs Scott already in bed when his phone rang. He answered after checking the caller ID.

"Hello," Mr Scott said and a smile appeared on his face as he listened to the other person on the line.

"Why are you smiling?" Mrs Scott asked once Mr Scott was off the phone.

"I just got the news that the pregnant maid has been taken care of," Mr Scott said climbing into bed.

"That is perfect. It will be good to meet the senator and plan the wedding so we put it in the papers. This way, Aiden would not be able to look for another woman," Mrs Scott suggested.

"I like how you think. You are a smart woman and another reason why I married you," Mr Scott said with a smile and kissed Mrs Scott.

They were both old but never felt old when it came to pleasurable moments. Ruth, on the other hand, was in her room chatting with someone on the phone.

"Yes, my father will soon become a prime minister of the state," Ruth said. "Yes, my brother is marrying the senator's daughter and the senator is a very good friend of the president. I understand they were childhood friends," she added smiling.

At Dessert Edge, Mrs Morrison and Alice were done packing and ready for their move the very next day. Alice sat on the bed feeling exhausted and Mrs Morrison lay down on the bed.

"It is pretty late. What time are we leaving?" Alice asked.

"6 in the morning," Mrs Morrison replied.

"So once we get to Toronto, I can look for the school," Alice said. "But mum, how are we going to get Ana to write my exams for me? It is not like we are twins that she can sit in my place?" she asked.

"Don't worry. Ana is smart, she will figure it out. Plus, she loves you and will do anything for you," Mrs Morrison said.

"Ana loves me?" Alice asked suddenly looking down. "So why are we doing this to her?" she asked.

"Alice, that is because she killed your father and put us in the situation in the first place. We would not be in this situation if not for her, remember that. Her mother couldn't stand the shame that is why she committed suicide," Mrs Morrison said and Alice frowned.

"Why does Ana call you mum?" Alice asked because aside from seeing her father briefly before his passing, she had always thought Ana was her elder sister.

"She suffered a memory loss after the incident and had seen being thinking I am her mother," Mrs Morrison replied.

"I see," Alice acknowledged as she also lay down on the bed to sleep.

The night slowly passed as the skies started getting bright. Alice opened her eyes stretching. She realized quickly her mother was not on the bed. She got up quickly and went to brush her teeth. When she stepped out of the bedroom, there was a car parked in front of the house and her mother was moving their valuables into it. She smiled.

"Toronto, here we come," Alice whispered with a smile.

Same time, at the hospital where Ana was on admission, Dr Jerome had just walked in and was getting ready for his morning routine checks on the patients when Haga entered his office after a knock. Her face looked trimmed making Dr Jerome frown.

"What is it?" Dr Jerome asked.

"Something bad happened last night," Haga said looking frustrated.

At Beverly Hills, Aiden had just woken up from his sleep with a terrible headache. He decided not to go to the hotel but to work from home that day. He was still thinking about Monica and why she would betray him like that but he recalled the promise he made to himself, never to be a slave to love again, and he frowned deeply.

"It is not worth it. If a woman whom I have loved for seven years and done everything for, including moving mountains at her request, could betray me like this, then I know women can't be trusted and love doesn't exist. I was a fool once. I will not be a fool again," Aiden thought to himself and got up from the sofa heading for his bedroom.

Aiden heard his phone ring as soon as he entered his bedroom. He checked the caller ID and it was Dr Jerome. Seeing Dr Jerome's call, he remembered his child.

"I guess I have one chance at a better love," Aident thought as he imagined raising the boy.

With this in mind, he decided to dedicate all his love to the child as soon as he is born. His phone rang again, interrupting his resolution moment as he remained standing at the entrance of his bed room door. He answered the call and closed his bedroom door.

"Hello Dr Jerome, why this early morning call?" Aiden asked.

"It is about Ana," Dr Jerome said.
