Her word had the same effect a punch to my groin had, I watched her as she rushed back inside, her petite frame failing to hide the fear and pain she must have felt the last few minutes.

I shrugged and walked back to my room, hand tucked in my pockets. It was a cold night really. I decided not to inform them she had returned, let them search a bit more and I'd tell them.
