RUBY

The village I visited lacked excellent transportation facilities. There was no subway, only a few buses operated, and not many villagers owned private vehicles.

I'd already told Luther where the village was. That afternoon, I sat in the wheat field, enjoying the breeze. Several people were gathered under a shady tree, playing cards to pass the time.

“Your nephew is really good at playing cards, she already beat us by a few dollars yesterday,” said one of the women to Aunty Mary.
