Elin’s POV:

Lucas’s words struck me like a blade, and before I could gather my breath, Lacey stepped forward from behind him, her hand sweeping through the air. A flurry of photographs scattered toward me like shards of glass.

She had meant to slap them against my face, but I slipped instinctively to the side, and the pictures fluttered down at my feet.
