I was forced to meet his fierce kiss until my cheeks flushed from lack of breath.

He let go of me, the corners of his mouth lifting in a victor’s smile.

There was a metallic tang at the tip of my nose. I slipped my hand into his suit jacket—under my fingers was sticky blood; it looked like his wound had started to seep.
