Just as my tension peaked, I saw a young woman come out of the exam room—Lacey.

She grabbed Clara’s hand excitedly and said, “Clara, I’m really pregnant. I’m carrying Baron’s child.”

“Congratulations,” Clara replied with a forced laugh, a flash of jealousy and loneliness in her eyes.

Lacey must have felt the look; she squeezed Clara’s hand. “Clara, don’t worry. Once you recover your health, you can also have Aaron-uncle’s pups.”
