The maid said Elin had her period and was suffering from cramps — her cycle had been delayed for many days this month.

I was about to call my private doctor Keanu and go with him to check on Elin, then stay to have lunch with her, when Clara pushed the door open. She said she’d made chicken soup and wanted me to come eat.
