Aaron's POV

It's desperate, messy, tasting of salt and fear and relief. She makes a small sound against my mouth, and then she's kissing me back, her fingers tangling in my hair.

When we finally break apart, we're both breathing hard.

"I saw you get in his car," I say roughly. "And you didn't even look back. I thought---"

"I didn't know you were watching." She pulls back just enough to meet my eyes. "I'm sorry. I should have told you, but everything happened so fast, and---"
