We just stared at each other. Locked in a moment I wasn’t ready to let go of.

Dark’s hand was still warm where it had held my arm, but now it dropped away.

He looked at me like he wanted to say something… but didn’t.

“No,” he said firmly, his voice deeper than before. “You can’t stay.”
