It’s cold, and my stomach is aching while I am watching people at the church, it’s Christmas eve, and a lot of family was there, all of them are happy and showing love to their loved ones, and here I am, a child who is hungry and envy of their happiness.
I slowly wipe my tears when I remember that my parents and shook my head. I went to the wave of people at the entrance of church and asked for small donations at every people that I faced, and all of them decline and pushed me because I looked dirty.
No one gave money to me, until the very last person that came from the church, I don’t believe at the Christmas is season of giving, because no one gave donations at me.
I walked at the dark part of the church, where my house is located and place the wallets and money that I got from the people.
Yes, I steal money from people. If I didn’t steal, I can’t eat at daily basis. I don’t have family or any relatives to help me.
I am counting my money until a soft knock makes me nervous, because no one dared to visit my place, all of people call this place haunted house.
But I gathered my strength and open the door, and a big man was there, I automatically cried, he looked like a bad person.
“Merry Christmas,” he said and placed the food in front of the door. Level his face to my height and a kid behind him was hiding.
“My son is such a bad guy, he enjoyed watching someone to steal, and he is amazed that you are such a great thief.” My eyes went big and shook my head.
“I-I did not.”
“No, it’s fine. Enjoy the Christmas,” that is what he said before leaving. My chest, it’s clenching, and I am still nervous from what happened.
I checked the basket where food was there, a small candle is the only source of light that I have in this small house of my parents.
I cried and hugged the spaghetti and bread, eat them all and a calling card was there, I didn’t give much attention at the calling card and eat everything that is in the basket.
I didn’t eat for almost two days, and this is the only decent meal that I have.
I gulp hard when a loud knock makes me stop eating, and I panicked, and a flash of lights appear at the door of my small house.
I didn’t finish my food when a man was there, laughing and sounds drunk when they barge into my small house.
All I know is I am afraid of the possibilities and harm that they can cause tonight.
“Please, leave. I don’t have money here.” I beg and they went closer to me.
Their eyes, I can see it, and they see me as a prey.
I know that they will harm me, and I don’t want ant of them to touch me.
“We don’t need your money, we need you.” I scream when I feel their hands at my hair, pulling it and forcing me to stand.
My tears are all over my face, I am afraid, and I can’t do anything about the intruders. I called my parents even they are dead, but they are laughing.
“Help me!”
“No one can hear you; we thanked those guys who came here, we found you—” he didn’t finish what he is about to say, and they collapsed.
I am catching my breath and the big guy was there, smiling at me and a woman behind him came, checked me, and hugged me tight.
“She is all fine,” she explained, and I am still catching my breath. My whole body is shaking due to trauma from those guys who barge into my house.
“Everything will be alright, stop crying now.” A warm hand of a woman helps me to calm, and I close my eyes while I can’t hear them, I have no idea what are they talking about.
“I am sure she is what you are looking.” That is the last word before I fall asleep.
