Chapter 9

Chapter 9

I got into the public transport and everyone began to cover their nose.

That's what I get for sleeping in a fish stall all night.

A lot of them looked at me funny and accessed my outfit.

The hem of my wedding dress was chopped off in a very bizarre shape and made it look like a freaking Halloween costume.

I tried to avoid touching anyone and covering my face with my hair when they began to pull out their phone to make videos and take pictures.

It was very humiliating as I tried to get to Ervine Estate.

The gates were huge and the guards looked like big meanies.

I took in a deep breath and walked up to them, thinking of a manner of approach that wouldn't make me sound mad.

“Does Rhys Alastair live here? He's my husband.”

The word were out of my mouth before I could retract them.

How nice, I definitely sound like a psycho at this rate.

The guards looked at me and then at each other before looking into the thin air.

I sighed, there was no way they'd recognize me, or even know that Rhys was married because our marriage was quiet and only close intimate family and friends knew about it.

Rhys promised that we'd make a public statement about it soon but until then, no one would know I was married to Rhys.

“Look, I know I sound and look crazy but if you'd just call him and let him know that Celestine is here-”

“Your tactics are too cheap, you should try somewhere else.” One of the guards snickered.

“You have no idea how many ladies come here proclaiming Mr. Rhys as their husband.”

“So he does live here. Please just ring him up. I promise, I'm not lying to you.”

“You should leave before we decide to call the cops on you.”

At the guards threat, I turned and looked for a spot to sit under the big tree.

Spending time in jail just after my wedding was not in my bucket list.

I stared at my foot and saw the cuts, injuries and blisters.

Tears formed in my eyes and I sniffed, looking up at the sky to stop them from falling.

I could feel my body's temperature raising as the sun's position shifted and the tree was no longer shielding me from the harsh rays of the sunlight.

I buried my face in between my knees and slept off in that position.

“...tine.”

“....lestine…”

“Celestine…”

“Celestine!”

My head snapped up and I was staring into Bane’s worried hazel eyes.

“Bane?” I asked, wondering if I was hallucinating.

“Yes, it's me. What the hell are you doing out here?” His eyes trailed down my body, “Is that your fucking wedding dress!” He exclaimed.

The haziness in my head cleared and my eyes widened, “Bane!”

I yelled with excitement.

Never did I think I'd feel so much joy seeing someone I'd seen hours ago.

I flung myself into his arms and broke down in tears.

Loud cries escapes my lips and my body shook in his arms.

“Oh God….Bane…you have no idea…how happy I….am to see you… Rhys….he…”

“It's okay. Calm down. It's alright, you're fine now.”

It took a while for me to regain myself and Bane looked like he had somewhere urgent to be but he still stayed with me.

“Come, let me help you in.” He helped me to my feet and I immediately winced when I stood on them.

He looked down to my foot and scowled, “Why are you barefoot?”

“I couldn't walk in my heels.” I whispered.

He opened his mouth to ask a question but must have decided against it and carried me in his arms instead.

One of the guards from earlier ran towards the car and helped him open the door.

Bane placed me in the passenger seat gently and closed the door.

I couldn't hear them but I could see him shouting and yelling at the guard before he walked to the passenger seat.

“I'm sorry about the guards.” He said and I smiled gently.

“It's okay. They were just doing their job.”

“How did they not recognize you? Didn't Rhys put your biometric scan into the database last night?” He scowled as he drove into the estate.

I looked at my fingers as they fiddled with each other.

“I…I didn't come here last night.” I whispered.

“What do you mean? I saw Rhys last night.” Bane said as he stared at me.

“Rhys came home, but I didn't come home with him.”
