The drive to the city was long, and though the air around me was filled with the hum of traffic and life, my thoughts were somewhere else, lost between dread and determination. Cassian hadn’t come home last night, and his phone had been unreachable all morning. I tried not to panic, but after everything that had happened, silence was the last thing I could bear.
