Cassian’s POV

Pain hit me before anything else, a hot, jagged line that made breath a battle and movement a dare. For a long second all I could focus on was that pain, the metallic taste in my mouth, the way the fluorescent lights above the bed blurred into a white smear. Then the rest of it poured back in: the bridge, the crash, Capricorn’s laugh, the water closing over metal and glass.
