We had just gotten home from the hospital. Alora was exhausted and had slept off in the car on our way home. She looked exhausted and drained.

I didn't know what it felt like to lose a patient since I was not a doctor, but I knew what it felt like to lose someone for the first time. 

To take a life and to lose a life. The experience tends to take a part of you with it.
