Chapter 38: Beating Myself Up

The second the exam papers were collected and the invigilators dismissed the class, I stood up so fast my chair nearly scraped into the person behind me. My head was pounding not from the midterm, but because Alexander, of all people, hadn’t so much as texted me yesterday, after what happened at the restaurant. 

“You’d think after the nonsense his ex pulled, he’d at least check if I was breathing,” I muttered as I pushed through the doors of the hall.
