Chapter 1

Chapter 1

A black taxi pulled over In front of Blues Hotel, and a young lady who appeared to be in her early twenties stepped out. She was cladded in a black satin mini dress with a draped neckline and adjustable spaghetti straps.

The dress features ruching along the sides and a cinched waist, creating a flattering and figure-hugging silhouette of Olivia. Her look was neither gaudy nor lavish; it was simple, yet fully capable of withstanding any scrutiny. Her make-up was applied lightly, and she clutched a silver purse, which seemed to go well with her not-too-high heels.

Olivia's beauty isn't the type to awe the masses, but her facial features and her body figure were delicate and memorable to anyone who set their gaze on her. Olivia is one of the ladies who can captivate those around her with her unique presence and smartness despite her calm look.

“Oh my goodness! Olivia, you're here! Hurry up to the third floor. Everyone is waiting there. If they knew you came, I'm sure they'd be surprised and excited as I am.” Susan, the classmate who seemed to be in charge of welcoming and leading the guest, said warmly as she gently directed Olivia.

Olivia nodded calmly, flashing her a bright smile in return before following the direction Susan had said earlier. As she made her way to the third floor, she began feeling tensed up. She didn't know why, but she felt an unplaceable sense of unease building up inside her. This feeling she hadn't felt for quite a period.

Could it be because this would be the first time attending their high school reunion since she has parted ways? Countless times, she has been invited to the reunion, but she would always give one or more excuses and they don't bother sending her an invite anymore.

It wasn't that Olivia was unsociable, or she thought she thought she was too good to be there. Only that, those years of her high school days, someone left a deep mark in her heart and soul that she had subconsciously avoided anything that had to do with high school reunion so as not to cross part with him.

Funny enough, it's impossible to cross part with him since he left the city already. He left her eight years ago! No, she made him leave!

This time, she ought to come because her high school teacher had personally come over to her workplace to give her an invite. How could she bring herself to reject an elderly woman who had personally come over to give her an invite? She had to come even though she didn't want to.

Olivia has always been the center of attention during her high school days..of course, it wasn't a surprise that the teacher had personally invited her, though she finds it unbelievable and strange!

Finally, she seemed to have gotten to the third floor; she pushed the large door open, attracting the gaze of about the thirties of her classmates. They all looked at the entrance only to see her smiling timidly.

Some could hardly believe their gaze as they weren't expecting to see her, since she has always removed herself from anything that has to do with reunion.

“Hello, everyone. It's been a while,” She greeted with a kind smile as her eyes quickly scanned every inch of the room, and luckily for her, the person wasn't there.

Olivia could only sigh softly as she made her way to an empty seat.

“ What a surprise, Olivia! Who could have thought you had come to the reunion today? Quite unexpected.” One of her classmates, Lucy said in a mockery tone.

Olivia could only smile awkwardly without giving a response. She had nothing to say, or maybe she still chose to stay silent.

Just then, the class president stood up and walked over to Olivia with a warm greeting, “ Olivia, it's been a long time. How have you been throughout all those years? Everyone missed you and we're all glad to have you back.” The class president said calmly.

He has always been calm and considerate right from their high school days. And upon seeing him now, he has not changed at all. Despite the whole eight years of growth. He remains calm as usual.

“I'm doing great, class president. It feels good to see you guys once again.” Olivia said before looking around properly looking for her teacher who had personally invited her.

Since she couldn't find her, she could only bring herself to ask out of worry, “Where is Mrs Rachel?” She asked after searching the whole place with her eyes.

“ Oh, Mrs. Rachel just called some minutes ago; she said that she's stuck up in the traffic and will be here soon. Come on, don't tell me you don't feel comfortable since Mrs. Rachel isn't here?”

“Ahh, I was just so worried about her because she has always been the punctual type right from our high school days,” Olivia said.

Since there weren't things she was interested in, she could only calm down and listen to her classmates' loud banter which was flying in and out of her ear.

It has been many years since they've graduated and some have changed physically while some barely change. And then some were unable to let go of their childish act, especially people like Chloe which is quite expected from a brat like her.

After graduating from high school, Olivia lost every reason to move ahead but she could only try to move on with a simple life. She rejected colleges in the cities even though they offered a huge scholarship that would change her life, but rather, she applied to a local law academy. After graduation, she went directly to a law firm where she happened to be an intern, signing a three-year contract.

Even though she's yet to be a permanent lawyer at the law firm, Olivia is only glad that she can live and enjoy her simple lifestyle with the man she's about to marry.

Now, she's in her dating era with a man from the same law firm. They had started courting right from her university days, making it three good years of their relationship, and now they'll be getting married soon.

Simple just like she hoped for!

Olivia was lost in thought not knowing someone was standing beside her and whispering some words into her ear. “A penny on your thoughts, Miss Olivia?”
