Chapter 3

Chapter 3

“Oh my goodness! Am I seeing right, is that person…Ezekiel?” A girl, surprised, Shierk came from the crowd, grabbing everyone's attention, including Olivia and Annie.

“Ezekiel… Ezekiel. That's him! Am I dreaming? Someone should please pinch my cheeks,” another person said, gushing happily as if she had just seen a celebrity.

Olivia was completely taken aback as she gazed at the silhouette by the door standing beside Mrs Rachel. Just the sight of him stood out more than every other person in here, or maybe he just stood out more to her. The glow radiating off the man's body makes it impossible for one to ignore. He has grown taller, about 187 centimeters tall, clad in a black designer suit and black trousers.

However, the man's simple outfit screams luxury, and his short hair looks dazzling on him. Those chiseled cheeks, sharp nose, thin lips, and deep eyes could make any lady go gaga.

Seeing the man in front of her, Olivia felt her heart had stopped beating steadily. She felt as if her heart was about to pop out of her chest.

“You're drooling, Olivia,” Annie whispered into her best friend's ear as the look on Olivia's face was so obvious to Annie.

“Y.e. s … ah, I mean no,” Olivia stuttered before she could think twice about the question while Annie could only chuckle.

“Olivia, what did I say? We were just speaking about him, and suddenly he appeared from nowhere after eight years of not seeing him. This situation is so cheesy and it only happens in a soap opera.” Annie said to Olivia after she recovered from the initial shock, gently brushing Olivia's shoulder while giggling to herself.

The whole scenario looks so familiar to a drama she watched last night, where the female lead was thinking about her lover who had long left her, and then boom, he appeared right in front of her.

Olivia was completely unresponsive to Annie's words because all her attention had been shifted to the arrival of that particular person. Her thoughts still lingered on Ezekiel.

The man's appearance was untouched, it was the same as that of eight years ago. The man had a cold grin plastered on his lips, which Olivia could differentiate from his younger self. Interesting.

Ezekiel scanned the whole room, his gaze seeming to be seeking someone who was yet to be seen. And finally, it landed on her, but as their eyes met, he took off his gaze, treating her like their other classmates. A feeling of disappointment swept through Olivia's heart.

Though it was quite expected, she couldn't help but feel disappointed.

“It has been a while,” The man said coldly after skimming through the room.

“Geez, is that real Ezekiel? Your voice sounds like heaven. Where have you been all these years? Can't believe we would meet in such a unique way like this!” Chloe fangirled in excitement as she dashed towards the man.

No one was surprised upon seeing her rush towards the man. Everyone knew she has always liked the man right from their high school days. She has always publicly professed her love to the man countless times without number only to be left with nothing but disappointment from the man.

And just like that, other girls surrounded Ezekiel, as everyone dreamed of boys like him.

“I have been studying and researching in Canada this whole time,” Ezekiel coldly said in response to everyone's inquisition.

It had been a whole eight years since they'd seen the Man. Countless gatherings, but the man never appears, and eventually, everyone's mind seems to drift off from him, but seeing him now sparks everyone's attention, including his high school sweetheart, Olivia.

“It's good to have you back in our midst. Please have your seat.” The class president said as he walked to the man and directed him to a seat beside Mrs Rachel, who was already seated, leaving her students to exchange pleasantries.

Mrs Rachel was seated watching the whole scene in front of her with a big smile plastered on her face. She felt happy upon seeing the big smiles on each and every face and couldn't help but think about those days when they were all still young and were under her.

“What a great life every one of them has led.” She muttered underneath with a smile.

By now, everyone was seated with their eyes focused on Mrs Rachel with a broad smile on their face, waiting to get started.

“Olivia,” Mrs Rachel called tenderly, with her gaze settled on Olivia, who was a bit from her end.

Everyone was curious why her name was suddenly called. Though she has always been popular among teachers, now everything is gone; she has no impressive work compared to others.

“Why on earth will Mrs Rachel call her? Not like she has impressive work, phew!” Chloe muttered arrogantly and she sent Olivia a scornful look.

The two ladies, Olivia and Chloe, have never been on good terms. Chlo has always seen Olivia as her rival in love even though she never had a tangible reason to claim Ezekiel as her lover. Everything was just her delusions.

“Come and sit beside me,” Mrs Rachel said, tapping the seat next to her. And all eyes diverted to Olivia instantly.

“Oh father lord, if this goes on, Olivia might faint before getting to Mrs Rachel.” Annie thought upon seeing all those eyes diverted at her.

Olivia nodded briefly, trying to stay calm on the surface, and walked towards Mrs Rachel. Even though she was unwilling, she still had to go.

With every step taken, her heart trembled, and her heartbeat rate constantly increased. She was approaching her, but Ezekiel was beside her too, which automatically made her approach both of them.

She could feel the gaze of the man on her, or was she just overthinking? And finally, she stood right in front of Mrs Rachel and was about to sit down but knocked down the wine glass that was on the table in front of Mrs Rachel, shattering it on the floor.

“Oh heaven Lord, please have mercy upon me!” Olivia cried out.
