Chapter 4

Chapter 4

“I'm so sorry ..” Olivia apologized almost immediately under the intense gaze of everyone.

Amidst the commotion, someone handed her a handkerchief which she collected to wipe off the edge of her dress. It was only after she used it that her attention went to the familiar design on it.

There is no way she would not recognize the design on the handkerchief when it was made by her. She had made two pairs of handkerchiefs and had given the man a pair while she held onto the second way as their token of love.

It was only after that she realized it was Ezekiel who had given her the handkerchief.

“Thank you,” She spoke, sounding a little bit distant as she unintentionally took some steps back from the man.

Ezekiel didn't respond; he casually talked with others, acting as if the woman in front of her wasn't important to her, and completely turned his attention away from her.

And that little act seems to make Olivia understand they were in a different era and the man probably doesn't care about her or might have forgotten about her.

Olivia sighed helplessly as she tried making her way to get seated, thinking that no one cared about her since each and everyone was catching up with themselves until she heard that sly, cunning voice that smelled of trouble.

“Olivia, I heard your wedding is in twelve days, huh? Your fiance is a lawyer, right? Good for you, but don't forget to drop an invitation for us, especially me; I would love to present.” Chloe said with a smile.

After hearing her words, the entire room fell silent, everywhere was so calm that if a needle fell off at that moment, it would be found. Everyone had their attention focused on Ezekiel, watching his expression closely. Most importantly, Olivia wasn't left out.

“Sure, I'll send it to you guys.” She muttered even though she never had the intention to send an invite to anyone except Annie, her best friend. But since it had gotten to that, she had to.

Suddenly, she felt a piercing glance from the man who was just an inch away from her.

“You're getting married?” The man spoke up after a whole moment of silence; Ezekiel finally spoke up to Olivia for the first time in eight years of their meeting.

Olivia nodded briefly while trying to stay calm. For some reason unknown to her she could feel her heart beating unusually out of fear and nervousness from the man's icy voice.

“Congratulations, Olivia.” He muttered, but the coldness in those words sent shivers down my spine.

“Thank you.” Olivia stuttered politely with awkwardness in her voice. She didn't dare to look at the man in his eyes as his face was way too cold than she could withstand. Countless times, she had always imagined how their first encounter would be after eight years of not seeing each other, but she never expected to meet in this manner. At the thought, she couldn't help looking flustered.

“It's such a pity; back in our high school days, Olivia was known to be one of the prettiest among all of us. I had always thought she would have that big luck to marry into a rich or influential family. But who could have thought she would settle down so soon with her lawyer boyfriend.” Chloe said with a broad smile on her lips that anyone could easily see through the mockery in her words.

Olivia wasn't surprised at all. She could only smile faintly at her rather than giving her a response, but luckily, Annie stood up for her.

“Chloe, why not give her a break? You want a rich and influential family, then get into one or is it hard for you? You know what, I had always thought you would be the first to get married among us but too bad your bad attitude never made you see a man. What a shame!”

“You…!” Chloe's eyes were almost out of her sockets; she could hardly believe her ears.

“I would have gotten married if I wanted to, okay? I was waiting for someone who holds a dear place in my heart, but don't worry; I'll make sure to waybill an invitation card to your home, that's if you have one!” She said in a cranky voice of hers.

“Are you sure the person you're waiting for is also waiting for you?” Annie asked with a smirk plastered on her face; of course, she wouldn't let Chloe have it easily and would do anything to crash that damn ego of hers.

“Besides, have you forgotten you've lost to Princess Olivia countless times? She dated the man you couldn't have and would never have.”

Everywhere was silent instantly as she realized she had touched the forbidden territory, so she quickly shut her mouth, but too bad those words had fallen out of her mouth like a broken egg.

The relationship between Olivia and Ezekiel has turned into one of the plots in movies.

Ezekiel showed no emotion or reaction to Annie's words. Rather, he kept looking at the woman. His gaze pierced through her.

Olivia smiled awkwardly before standing up. She said, “Umm, excuse me, I would like to use the restroom.”

There was a private restroom in their lounge but Olivia didn't and went to the room as fast as her leg could take her. Though she knew she left her purse there, she just needed to get away from Ezekiel's sight, even if it was for a second.

She breathes out a sigh of relief after walking out. She could hear her heartbeat accelerating. And Olivia was aware of why her heart was pounding, it was because of the man.

After she calmed down a little bit in the washroom, she touched up her make-up briefly before walking out of the restroom to get her purse to leave the place as soon as possible. But before she knew what was happening, she was roughly pushed against the wall; luckily, the person held her head, preventing her from hitting the wall.

Before Olivia couldn't understand what and why, the lips suddenly approached her, and the familiar cologne filled her nostrils as the lip pressed against hers.

Holy shit!
