Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Before Olivia could use her six senses, the lips pressed hard against hers and the familiar cologne filled her nostrils. Even without seeing the man's face yet, she recognized him almost immediately. He held her hand against her head as he pinned her against the wall and kissed the heck out of her lips till they got reddish.

A wicked, alluring smile appeared on the man's face as he pulled away after an intense kiss; he lifted Olivia’s cheeks with the tip of his finger.

“Olivia, I'm back,” he muttered coldly; those sentences pierced through Olivia's body system.

Olivia slightly trembles upon hearing the familiar voice and as the man's hand brushes against her hair. His warm hand slightly touched Olivia's face along the way. She looked into the man's eyes and that thing which she had been suppressing by lying to herself seemed to have resurfaced from deep within her.

She couldn't bring herself to utter a single word under the man's intense gaze. As sharp a tongue as she had, she was left speechless by the man. It was as if the man had gotten her tongue tied up.

Olivia watched the man's retreating figure while she could only stand in a daze, breathing heavily, trying to catch her breath. “ What's wrong, Olivia? Why are your eyes like that?” Annie's voice jerked her back to reality as she waved her five fingers in the air.

“I'm fine,” she muttered, her face looking so pale even when she said she was fine. Annie could feel something was wrong but decided to let it be till she felt like letting it out.

“ I came after you because I was worried about you,” Annie said as she gently rubbed her back. “Let's go inside, okay? Everyone is waiting for you, even Mrs Rachel is waiting for you.” She said,

“I should leave now, Annie. You can help me tell Mrs. Rachel and the others that I had an emergency that required me to leave as soon as possible.” Olivia said calmly, and luckily for her, Annie had brought her purse with her.

“Are you sure you'll be fine, Olivia?” Annie asked worriedly.

“Don't worry about me, okay? You know your best friend has always been the strong one.” She said, pulling her cheeks playfully.

“Okay, be careful on your way home, and remember to text me when you get home, Olivia.” She said, pulling her into a tight hug as she watched Olivia make her way to the exit till she was out of her sight.

When Annie got back inside, everyone's attention was on her or maybe they were expecting her to come inside with Olivia. Some noticed Olivia's purse wasn't with her again, which only meant she had left already.

“I'm sorry, everyone, but Olivia had an emergency that required her attention. After all, she's a lawyer.” Annie said, looking at Mrs Rachel.

“You mean an intern lawyer, huh,” Chloe said with a chuckle. “Olivia is so full of herself and fake. She has never once attended any reunion, but today, she attended. Who knows whether she intended to throw herself at Ezekiel just like she has always done? What a scheming opportunist. She won't hesitate to use despicable means to lure Ezekiel back to herself. What a big bitch!” Chloe cursed nonstop.

The other classmates had no comment to make as they believed anyone could easily have an emergency that required attention.

“Are you done, Chloe? When you're done you can shove some food down your throat. You seriously need it.” Annie coldly said shutting Chloe up as fast as she could. She has always hated her gut right from their high school days.

Chloe has always been that bratty of a girl with different childish behavior. Who could have thought she had grown up but still not changed that petty behavior of hers?

By the time Olivia got home, it was so late, and her cell phone wouldn't stop ringing nonstop. Upon checking the caller, it was no other person than her best friend, Annie. Since Olivia knows why she is calling her and she doesn't know what to say to her, she can only watch her phone ringing nonstop while she's unable to pick it up.

After turning up the light in her shared apartment, she noticed no one was inside or outside the bedroom, which meant one thing. Her boyfriend, Ethan, is yet to be back.

She and her boyfriend shared an apartment after they both graduated from a local law school. They believed it would help them and their relationship to grow more since they'll be getting married anyway, and they've always been together since then. And since it's closer to their law firm, as both couples went to the same university and at the same time work at the same place, and the environment is pleasant, it makes everything easier for them to live together.

They've been together for a whole three years, but Olivia was aware their relationship was out of mutual reliance and not love, and she decided to live a simple life and forget about the man. She made up her mind to marry her boyfriend.

Olivia took a hot shower and changed into a new set of nightgowns that Annie had given her as a gift. It fits her body perfectly but shows her pointed nipples through the lace of the nightwear. It was more revealing than she thought.

She was about to pull it off when her phone began ringing again. She couldn't help thinking it could be Annie, but upon checking it, it was an unfamiliar number.

“Hello”

“....”

“Hello, who is this please?” Olivia asked for the umpteenth time, feeling more and more frustrated. “If you ain't going to speak, why did you call? Anyway, I'll hang up.” She felt a bit annoyed by the so-called call.

Just as she was about to hang up, as she said, the latter spoke up. And the manly voice echoed right into her ears.

“Olivia, why are you ignoring me?” the voice spoke through the phone.

“Ezekiel?” Olivia called out almost immediately after the latter spoke. There was no way she wouldn't recognize the man's voice.

“Why are you avoiding me, Olivia?” he repeated the question once again, making Olivia shiver.

“Stop this nonsense, Ezekiel. We broke up eight years ago, and besides, I'm getting married in twelve days….”

“You broke, not we broke up, Olivia, remember?” he said with a chuckle.

“You…,!”

“I'm downstairs.” He interrupted instantly.
