I breathed out in relief, then turned to Arthur after a few minutes.

"He said you should invite me inside for dinner, and I happen to be particularly hungry," he said, touching his stomach to prove his words. "Aren’t you gonna invite me in?" he asked.

"Never," I growled in his face.

He stared at my face for a very brief moment, then laughed and shook his head.

"She’s scared of what I might say in there," he voiced my thoughts.
