Chapter 2

Alexander's POV

“So, you're saying we are in a debt of 30 million dollars?” I sighed, looking at Tobias.

“Yes.” Tobias said, resting his back with a defeated look.

“I've never heard of any mafia ever being in debt.” I hissed, pacing round the room, thinking of a way out of the mess I was in.

“It's because we have too much product available, and the police activity has been messing up business.” Tobias said.

“The DEA and FBI are really out for everyone's head, and it's a shock that we're still under the cover.” He added. “I'd say that we're lucky.”

“No, it's not because we're lucky. I have several people at the top on my fucking payroll, and that's why no one is bothering us.” I said, thinking of several ways to get this burden off my shoulders.

“So, what should I do, Don?” Tobias asked, and I sighed again, unsure of what exactly to say. Moving from handling the laundering of money with the company, and selling drugs and war weapons, I barely have any sleep, and my cognitive functions are being affected.

“For now, push on the distributors, and force them to buy more. Decrease the price by half a G, and make sure everyone gets enough to put us a little out of this nonsense.” I said.

“Half a G? They'll sense desperation and want to exploit it, and also won't we lose money?” Tobias protested.

“That's why you'll make it seem like we're having mercy on them because of the latest developments with the NYPD, DEA , and other enforcement agencies.” I said. “And about loss? We make more than two hundred percent profit on these things, so half a G is not a problem.”

“How and why are we broke then?” Tobias asked. “How are we in so much debt?”

“That debt is solely because we've invested in too much real estate, and the later we pay off this debt, the worse it'd be for the estates we've acquired.”

“Can't we just sell them off?” Tobias asked, and I hissed in anger.

“All these years, and you still haven't understood the concept of money laundering?” I hissed again. “Just get the fuck out, and do what I've asked.”

“Oh shit, just in case I forgot to mention, we also have a problem with the Eagle mafia.” Tobias said.

“That's a dumb name for a cartel, and I don't give three fucks what problem they have, just do what I've fucking asked!” I snapped.

“I might have to use the Don's name as a threat.” Tobias said.

“Anything that makes them buy, do it.” I growled, and Tobias immediately left my presence.

I stopped pacing round the room, sat down, and I went over the books again. I closed my eyes to think of a more effective way to clear the debts, and also make more profit, but I was drifting into sleep. I didn't fight it, because these naps are the best things about every day I've had since my father died. My phone rang out violently, pulling men out of the nap I was having.

“Honestly, fuck whoever it is.” I hissed, picking up my phone to see that it was my mom. “Okay, unfuck her.” I hissed.

“Yeah mom?” I muttered.

“Alexander, I need you to come to the bar adjacent to your company.” She said over the phone.

“Mom, it's not adjacent, it's six blocks away. How many times do I have to repeat that to you?” I tutted, with my eyes still closed. “And why would you want to meet at that bar again?”

“Just get here on time. I have to discuss something important with you.” She said, and ended the call immediately.

“One day, I'll take a vacation, and I won't give a fuck if the world ends while I'm not there.” I whispered to myself, forcing myself off the chair. I grabbed my suit, and I was out of the office.

I didn't take my car since it was just six blocks away. I strolled there, feeling the intense urge to crash out and sleep.

When I walked in, the bar was cleared out, and the reason isn't far fetched. I have a dramatic woman as a mother. It was her back view I could see as she was seated opposite her friend, Alexia, and there was a pretty damsel beside her that looked really familiar.

“Hi mom.” I said, and she stood to hug me. “Auntie Alexia.”

“How are you?” She asked, but I was barely listening to anything she was saying.

“Noelle Anderson.” I said, and she stood up with a smile.

“Alexander Jameson.” Noelle said, and we hugged.

Noelle was looking way more beautiful than the last time I saw her, which was in high school. She broke up with me because she was travelling out of the country to study.

I'm not much for details, but her brown eyeballs, and the dimples on her cheeks get to me every single time.

“Oh, I never even thought they'd connect this fast.” My mom said, and they laughed.

We spent the evening laughing and catching up on a lot of things. We were there for hours, and the mothers stayed there, having discussions of their own.

“I see you haven't changed a bit.” Noelle chuckled.

“And you're still fine as hell.” I muttered, and she giggled.

“You flatter me too much.” She said, and I chuckled.

“How long are you here for?” I asked.

“Can't say yet.” She shrugged. “My dad wants me to take over the company, so I'm here for that most likely.” She said, and I nodded.

“Well, enjoy the city, there are several pleasurable sights, including men and women, whatever your preferences are.” I said, and she laughed.

My phone rang out of the blue, and it was Tobias.

“Erm, sorry everyone I have to leave. Business stuff.” I shrugged. “It was really nice seeing you again, Noelle.”

We hugged again, and after several more talks from my mom, I escaped.

I called Tobias again, walking back to the office.

“What is it?” I asked with a cold voice.

“We have a problem.” He said, and I tutted.

Tobias explained the whole problem to me while I walked back.

“I'll handle it.” I assured him, ending the call.

Out of nowhere, a really pretty lady walked up to me. She was an absolutely pretty lady. It was dark but I could see her brown eyes and how they complimented her brown skin. She was tall, and also had a curvy body.

She had tears staining her beautiful face, and before I could say or do anything, she opened my palm, and slapped a box into it.

It was definitely a proposal ring.

“I do.” I said jokingly.

“Shut the fuck up!” She shouted at me, running off.

I wanted to run after her, but she was really fast. That was probably the cutest thing I've witnessed.

I was still shocked and rooted to the spot, trying to make a decision when my phone rang again. I kept the box in my pocket.

“Fucking hell.”
