Alexander's POV
The bail hearing was already settled before we even went to court. I did not outrightly ask the judge or give any form of bribes, but through the night, I had actively worked on helping her son secure a job at a top oil mining company, after Tobias had found out about that need. I asked him to put in a good word stylishly, and he did just that.
I paid off the bail easily, and was helping Arabella get her belongings out of the cell. She was speaking to Skye, and they were getting closer to us.
“Alexander, why are you being so nice to me?” Arabella asked, walking up to me. She folded her arms, and just watched me speak like she'd catch me in a lie. I wasn't sure If she actually wanted to speak to me, or she was trying to avoid Justin, who was just a few steps behind me.
“What do you mean?” I asked. “You're my fiancée, and not wearing that ring doesn't make you less.”
“No, Alexander.” Arabella said adamantly. “Nobody is that nice to anyone, and this is really suspicious, so tell me what it is!”
“Look, Arabella,” I said, holding her shoulders in a way that'd make her calm down, “there are no strings attached to this, and I had the means and the people to make it happen, so why waste any time?”
“Thank you.” She said, and her eyes got teary.
“Please don't cry.” I said, unsure if I should try to hug her.
“I won't.” She said, sniffing hard, taking a deep breath after. Justin came right behind us, and I just moved to the side.
“I'll meet you outside.” She whispered, and I nodded, walking outside the station. Skye stayed with Arabella.
“Okay, Don, I think it's time to remove yourself from this situation.” Tobias said as soon as we got outside.
“Remove myself from the situation?” I scoffed. “She's in this because of me.”
“And it doesn't matter. You've provided her with the best tools to get her out of it. I'm sure she'd be fine on her own.” Tobias argued.
“I'm not leaving her to this!” I said with a final tone. “And don't bring this up again.”
We had barely stood outside for two minutes when Arabella walked out with Skye. I had always seen her as attractive, but she looked way better from this angle. The wind blew her hair to her face, and she gracefully pulled her hair to the side, looking absolutely beautiful. She looked straight up, and the sun cast its light on her eyes, making the beauty of her brown eyes very obvious.
I’ve seen a lot of beautiful brown skinned women, in fact, I have seen a lot of beautiful women, but this is on another level of divine beauty.
“Why are you looking at her like that?” Tobias asked, jolting me from my thoughts.
“Nothing.” I said, salivating hard.
“I hope so.” Tobias said.
I opened the door of my car, and Arabella got in. It was all a part of the rules we had made. Skye got into the front seat, and there was no more room left.
“How'd I get to her house?” Tobias asked, looking pissed already.
“Your keys?” I asked Arabella, but Skye was the one that handed it over to me.
“Drive behind us.” I ordered, handing the keys to him. He took it without grumbling.
Before entering the car, I saw Justin. He was looking defeated with his hands in his pockets. I could only imagine how it had gone.
“Jefe, move.” I said, and he put the car into motion.
“Whatever you think I can do to repay you, please let me do it.” Arabella said, and I shrugged.
“You're already my fiancée, there's nothing more to ask.” I said, and she chuckled.
“Are you this smooth with every girl you meet?” Arabella asked, rolling her eyes at me.
“Let me say this part of me only exists when I'm with you.” I said, and she chuckled again. I wasn't sure if it was a blush.
“But on a more serious note, you don't need to do anything, however, your lawyer might need a little convincing.” I said with a sigh.
“Mr Harris?” She said with a high pitched tone. Skye turned back, and was just listening to us speak.
“Yeah.” I nodded. “He has to speak with you first to be sure he'd represent you, because not even a blank cheque was enough to convince him to take the job.”
“When can I speak to him?” She asked.
“Tomorrow. He has to be out of the city today, but he'll be back by night.”
“And also, how can I get the case files? I need to know what I'm up against so I’d figure a way out of this mess.” Arabella asked, looking at me with such innocent eyes. She must have seen a lot as a lawyer, but having those innocent eyes just made her more attractive.
“I have them with Tobias already, and I'll get them to you once we arrive at yours.” I said, and she nodded.
She proceeded to hold my hand, and look into my eyes like the sight of her eyes wasn't making me weak enough.
“Thank you.” She whispered.
“Don't mention.” I said with a chuckle.
We arrived at her apartment, and she invited me in. Tobias came in also with the case file in his hands. I sat down, and she offered me a glass of water.
I took a sip, still battling with sleep, when Tobias handed her the file.
She wasted no time, and opened it immediately. She started scrolling through the pages of the huge file while Skye just walked up and down the house, doing nothing in particular. Skye had offered her thanks almost a million times.
“How did your gun get there in the first place?” I asked, and she sighed.
“I was mad at Justin, and I was going to shoot him if he came close to me,” Arabella said, “so, I threw my gun into the dumpster on my way out.”
I nodded as she spoke, confirming that it was her gun I had used on Silas.
“Whoever killed him was a crazy person.” Skye shook her head, looking at the pictures of his dead body. “A shot to the stomach, and one to the head.”
I was immediately alarmed.
“One to the head?” I asked, taking the picture to see that he was shot in the head.
“I'd have to find the killer.” Arabella said, and I nodded.
“Well, I have to leave now.” I said, making up an excuse. Arabella walked me out of her apartment, continually thanking me. I was getting tired of it already.
When I got into the car, I heaved a sigh of relief.
Tobias was now beside me, and Jefe started driving.
“What is it, Don?” Tobias asked.
“I didn't shoot Silas in the head.” I muttered. “I didn't kill him. I only shot his stomach, and I left.”
“Fuck!” Tobias muttered, shaking his head.
“This also means that we don't know who the murderer is, and if he knows what I did.” I sighed.
“Damn!”
“Yeah bro, damn!”
