Slowly, Kate opened up her eyes. Head felt heavy, body hotter than usual. Holding her stomach, she sat up—perhaps in bed.

Legs shook; she tried standing still. She grabbed the phone, then dialed—maybe?

"Hello, Joyce?" Her voice sounded kinda weak.
