Chapter 3

A Growing Disdain

Leo's pov

I watched Ryder with a mix of fascination and disgust, his behavior at Alpha Academy a perfect reflection of his arrogant and entitled personality. He seemed to take pleasure in belittling others, his condescending attitude grating on my nerves.

As I observed him in class, I saw him interrupt the teacher, inserting his own opinions and ideas without being asked. His classmates seemed to fawn over him, but I saw right through his facade.

"You're so smart, Ryder," one of his friends said, and he smiled, his eyes gleaming with superiority.

"Yeah, I'm just naturally gifted," he said, his voice dripping with arrogance.

I felt a surge of disgust at his words. Who did he think he was, anyway? I shook my head, feeling a sense of frustration. Why did he have to be so arrogant all the time?

As the days went by, I found myself growing increasingly irritated by Ryder's presence. His condescending attitude and tendency to belittle others rubbed me the wrong way, and I couldn't help but wonder how someone so flawed could be so successful.

One day, in the hallway, I saw Ryder push past a student, not even bothering to apologize. The student looked hurt and embarrassed, and I felt a wave of anger towards Ryder.

"Excuse me," Ryder said, not even looking back. "I'm in a hurry."

I watched him go, feeling a sense of disgust. Who did he think he was, treating others like that? I shook my head, feeling a growing disdain for Ryder.

As I walked away, I ran into my friends Cassius and Aurora. "Hey, what's wrong?" Cassius asked, noticing my expression.

"Just Ryder being Ryder," I said, rolling my eyes.

Aurora nodded in understanding. "Yeah, he can be pretty infuriating sometimes."

I nodded in agreement. "It's like he thinks he's above everyone else or something."

Cassius shook his head. "Some people are just born with a sense of entitlement, I guess."

I sighed, feeling a sense of frustration. "I don't know how he gets away with it," I said. "He's just so...arrogant."

Aurora smiled wryly. "Well, maybe one day he'll learn to humble himself," she said. "But until then, we just have to deal with it."

I nodded, feeling a sense of resignation. She was right, of course. We couldn't change Ryder, but we could control how we reacted to him. And I was determined not to let him get to me.

As we walked away, I couldn't help but feel a sense of solidarity with my friends. We all shared a dislike for Ryder's behavior, and we were all determined to rise above it.

I walked through the halls of Alpha Academy, my eyes scanning the crowds of students. It seemed like Ryder was everywhere, his confident smile and charming demeanor drawing attention from everyone around him. I, on the other hand, preferred to keep a low profile, observing from a distance.

As I turned a corner, I saw Ryder standing by his locker, chatting with his friends. He caught my eye and smiled, his expression condescending. "Hey, nerd," he said, his voice loud enough for everyone around us to hear. "What's new with you?"

I felt a surge of frustration at his tone, but I kept my cool. "Just studying," I replied, my voice neutral.

Ryder chuckled. "Oh, I'm sure you're very dedicated to your books," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "But don't you ever get bored?"

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by his question. "What do you propose I do instead?" I asked, my voice was calm.

Ryder grinned. "Well, there are plenty of things you could be doing," he said. "You could be playing sports, or joining a club... or even trying to make some friends."

I felt a pang of annoyance at his implication that I was friendless. "I have acquaintances," I said, my voice firm.

Ryder raised an eyebrow. "Really?" he said, his voice was skeptical. "Who are they, then?"

Just then, Cassius and Aurora walked by, nodding at me in greeting. "Hey, Leo," Cassius said. "How's it going?"

I smiled slightly, feeling a sense of gratitude towards my friends.

I did not answer them but the look in my eyes spoke volumes, my friends got the code and left the place, leaving me with the devil himself who seemed a bit surprised about the situation

Ryder's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh, you do have friends," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

I felt a sense of satisfaction at his reaction. "Yeah, I do," I said, my voice calm.

Ryder's face fell, and for a moment, he looked taken aback. But then he recovered, his smile returning. "Well, I'm glad to see you're not as lonely as I thought," he said.

I nodded, feeling a sense of relief as Ryder walked away. Cassius and Aurora approached me, concern etched on their faces.

"Hey, are you okay?" Aurora asked, her voice soft. "Ryder can be really annoying sometimes."

I nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards my friends. "Yeah, I'm fine," I said. "Just dealing with his usual condescending attitude."

Cassius chuckled. "Yeah, he's definitely something else," he said. "But you're doing great, Leo. Don't let him get to you."

I smiled slightly, feeling a sense of appreciation for my friends. They knew me well enough to understand that I wasn't the outgoing type, and they respected my boundaries.

I stood in the training room, my eyes fixed on the mats as I prepared for another rigorous session. Despite Ryder's constant condescension and belittling remarks, I refused to let my personal feelings get in the way of my goals. I was determined to succeed at Alpha Academy, and I wouldn't let anyone or anything distract me from my path.

As I began my training, I felt a sense of calm focus wash over me. I was in my element, and nothing could shake me. Ryder's voice, loud and boisterous, echoed through the halls, but I tuned it out, focusing on my movements and my breathing.

My training partner, a senior student named Max, nodded at me as we began our drills. "You're getting faster, Leo," he said, his voice approving. "Keep it up, and you'll be a top contender in no time."

I smiled, feeling a surge of pride and motivation. I was determined to prove myself as a capable and strong Alpha, and I wouldn't let anyone – including Ryder – stand in my way.

As the days turned into weeks, I continued to push myself, honing my skills and expanding my knowledge. I studied late into the night, pouring over books and notes, and I trained tirelessly, perfecting my techniques.

Ryder's behavior didn't change, but mine did. I grew stronger, more confident, and more focused. I was a force to be reckoned with, and I knew that I would prove myself as a worthy Alpha.

One day, as I was leaving the training room, Ryder approached me, a sneer on his face. "You think you're so tough, don't you?" he said, his voice dripping with malice. "But you're just a nerd, Leo. You'll never be an Alpha."

I looked at him calmly, my eyes meeting his. "I'm not interested in your opinions, Ryder," I said, my voice even. "I'm focused on my goals, and I won't let anyone distract me."

Ryder's face fell, and for a moment, I saw a flash of anger in his eyes. But I didn't back down. I stood my ground, my eyes locked on his, and I knew that I would prove myself as a capable and strong Alpha, no matter what anyone thought.
