Chapter 4

Elena POV.

“I went to render an apology to you but the chef said you were not around and I thought go wait by your hallway but when I saw you entering, I immediately followed” I explained with a small voice that had shuddering deep within me.

“Are you certain?” Lucian stared at me suspiciously but as much as before–no problem though, I still had another card to play.

“You have CCTV, I presume. You can check, I have nothing to hide” I shrugged, on the contrary I had so much to hide.

“We will” Logan mumbled and I began to take measured steps towards the door but they blocked it and I shot backwards but collided with Lucian’ body.

“You look quite good” Logan whispered as his eyes roamed around my body and my eyes widened with shock before I raised my hand and sent a sharp slap to his face without thinking.

Silence reigned and I took that as my cue to escape and as soon as I entered my room, I slammed it close and locked it up then used a sofa to hold it in case they had another key.

My heart pounded in my chest as I went to take a seat and opened my phone to stare at the documents only to discover that it was a code for something I had no idea of but it looked sort of important.

I sighed before I fell back to the bed and recalled that I had punished Jennifer and still hadn't heard from her, she must be hungry.

I went downstairs to get her food but found out that her food was all healthy nonsense that made me want to puke my stomach out.

“What is this?” I questioned as soon as they passed me a tray and the chef turned to me with confusion.

“The Young lady's meal” she responded but her tone had some underlying hint of annoyance and rudeness that I couldn't understand why it was so.

“This is trash. Why would you give this to the boss' child?” I questioned once again but the old woman laughed with amusement.

“Boss child? What a joke.. she's lucky to even be in this building” she spat out with a venomous voice that had me taking steps backwards before she huffed and went to the water filled sink.

An idea filled my head and without thinking it through, I walked up to her and grabbed her hair.

She screeched with shock but I slammed her face into the sink filled water and she shook beneath my grip for a long while.

After a while, I drew her out and pushed her to the ground where she began to gasp for air.

“You're a servant in this estate, what audacity you have to treat my girl and the lady of this house that way. I will help you remember your position, old fart” I bent down and sent three slaps into her face at the same time and she cried out in pain as she clutched her face.

“Y-y-y”

“You have something to say to me?” I asked and her eyes flashed with fear before she shook her head at me and I smirked when laughter filled my ears and I glance up with shock to find Jennifer who rushed up to me and hugged my feet.

“Jennifer?” I asked as she held me tightly and I bent down to her height only to find tears in her eyes and my heart went out for her.

“What's wrong?” I found myself asking.

“You…. You defended me” I was confused as fuck, what does she mean by that? Her words were telling me that she had been receiving this treatment for far too long.

“ You're saying this is not a first?”My voice was calm but I was not calm. How could they do this to a child?

“I…’’ she trailed off with fear and I sprang up to my feet and turned to the cowering woman who stared at me with fear in her cat eyes.

“Y-you e-eevil witch, stay away from me” she pointed at me and with a short glance around, I bent down and grabbed the finger which I twisted till it cracked and she screamed with pain..

As I released the finger, it went limp on her other outstretched fingers and a glance was all it took and she fell unconscious instantly.

“Old witch” I cursed under my breath before picking up the tray of trash and emptying it on her head.

“Awesome!!” I turned to Jennifer and saw her gulp. “I will never do anything life-threatening to her ever again, it was the wrong thing to do no matter how much I hated her” and I smiled at her.

Which she returned with her own toothy grin and I hefted her up on the chair there before making her some nice food.

“Is this pancakes? And sandwiches? And toast?” Her eyes widened when she saw the meal and I smiled before telling her to help herself and my heart went out to her when she began to devour it like something she had never had before.

I knew that feeling and would never wish it on my enemies but she was rich, so why was she in such a position and what were the guys even doing?.

“How is it?” I asked after a while and she looked at me before uttering a word that had my smile falling off my face.

“Mummy” her eyes watered as my heart skipped beats and I shook my head.

“I'm not your mummy, Jennifer” I whispered and her face clouded before it cleared up and she continued to eat with more vigor.

“Easy, it won't disappear” I smiled at her and she nodded before going about it more slowly.

I felt my mind take me back to when I was just like her, scrapping for food and even with a roof over my head.

After that, I took her to play in the garden by the building and then we spent some time together in my room before I slept off and I went downstairs to get a glass of milk only to find the chef over the kitchen stove.

“Oh, it's you.” I mumbled before brushing past her and going to the fridge.

“You bitch” she cried out and I dodged out of the way of an oil pan before it could touch me and kicked it which sent it flying back at her and she gasped before turning to escape but it was too late.

The hot oil pan slammed into her back and she screamed bloody murder—-but I merely smiled, took my milk and left the kitchen without looking back and that same day, another ambulance was called for her and she never returned.
