Chapter 8

Kenna held King Raven's hand and gently pulled him closer, as the remnants of her newly regained strength left her still weak. King Raven was curious why Kenna was pulling him so as if there was something she wanted to tell him.

“Your Majesty, I want to talk to you about something,” Kenna's weak voice made King Raven feel sorry for her, and his desire to listen to her was so strong.

“What is it, Kenna? Are you feeling unwell?” King Raven observed Kenna with concern.

“Your Majesty, I feel that Celine has changed. She is being too kind to me now,” a smile appeared on Kenna's face.

“What makes you feel that way, Kenna?” King Raven asked seriously. He looked at Kenna with an expression that seemed to ask for an explanation from the woman in front of him.

“I don't know, but I feel something is wrong.” Kenna shook her head slowly with her pale face.

But it turned out that all of that conversation was overheard by a girl who was already at the entrance of the Main Tower, where Kenna was currently staying because she had to serve her punishment due to Celine's actions at the time. The girl had been holding back her emotions, but she managed to contain them for a moment longer. Although her fangs and long nails had begun to grow due to the emotions she couldn't contain. She took a moment to breathe deeply to calm herself.

‘Hold on, Celine, this is all temporary. Soon, King Raven will abandon Kenna forever!’ Celine thought to herself, choosing instead to smile at the guard standing at the entrance of the Main Tower.

“Better not think about it, Kenna. Rest...” Before he could finish his sentence, Celine returned to the room with a sweet and sincere smile.

“Queen Kenna, I brought your favorite food! I thought we could eat together and chat about pleasant things, right, Your Majesty?” Celine glanced at King Raven for approval.

“Oh, Celine? Thank you. You came at the right time; King Raven is already here,” Kenna, who was a bit hesitant about Celine's arrival, tried to accept the girl. King Raven watched Celine suspiciously but didn't show it.

“Yes, that's a good idea. We can eat together,” said King Raven.

Celine placed the food on the table and sat between Kenna and King Raven, preventing Kenna from continuing her story.

‘I can't tell him about my fight with Celine now. What is she planning?’ Kenna thought, already harboring ill feelings toward Celine.

Since the concubine arrived, her relationship with King Raven had grown strained, not to mention the daily slanders and accusations from the girl that made her sick. And now the concubine was suddenly being kind to her in front of King Raven. Every time Kenna and King Raven spoke alone, Celine would appear with a plausible excuse.

Suddenly, Assistant Alvin came to the Main Tower, where Queen Kenna was now staying to meet King Raven, to deliver news about a problem outside the palace.

“Your Majesty, there is a matter of state that requires your immediate attention. The ministers are waiting in the royal hall,” said Assistant Alvin.

King Raven looked at Kenna with a hint of disappointment, as his conversation with the girl he loved had to be interrupted.

“Alright, I will go there immediately. Kenna, I will return here soon.” King Raven said, then left immediately with Assistant Alvin. King Raven only said goodbye to Kenna, but before leaving, he glanced at Celine. Kenna nodded weakly.

“Alright, Your Majesty, be careful.”

“I will accompany Kenna until Your Majesty returns, don't worry,” Celine replied, bowing slightly to King Raven.

Celine immediately took the opportunity to sit beside Kenna. The girl seemed to want to keep Kenna from feeling lonely while King Raven was not there. She then fed Kenna the food she had brought.

King Raven left feeling uneasy, leaving Kenna alone with Celine in the room. This made him very restless.

“What kind of national issue could be so serious that King Raven had to leave his sick wife? Is it really that important?” Celine said this as if there were no issues or feelings of guilt.

"No need for pleasantries, Celine. You're the one who made me like this!" Queen Kenna replied, her trust in Celine gone since Celine had deceived her and dragged her into war, leaving her injured as she was now imprisoned in the Main Tower.

"For that matter, I truly apologize to you, Queen Kenna. I was wrong for dragging you into battle until you were injured. Moreover, you have protected King Raven, and I am deeply indebted to you." Celine knelt before Kenna. Whether to believe it or not, Kenna was still unsure because the girl before her had once been so eager to gain King Raven's attention that she was willing to slander him, but why was she different now?

“I'm sure there's a big secret Celine is hiding that made her realize her mistake toward me. But what is it? Is it also related to King Raven? What about the wolves that suddenly attacked King Raven that night?” Kenna thought as she glared sharply at Celine, who was now showing a guilty expression.

Zyra, who had been standing by the door, now signaled to Kenna from a distance, her eyes seeming to say not to trust Celine so easily. Suddenly, Zyra also entered and prevented Celine from doing anything strange to Kenna.

“What did you do to Queen Kenna?”

“I didn't do anything. Why? Do you think I put poison in the food?” Celine raised an eyebrow while smiling. Since she was talking to a maid, Celine didn't need to speak politely. Zyra immediately checked and tasted it. However, there was nothing unusual about the food, and there was no reaction.

“Don't just accuse people without proof. I could report this to King Raven if I wanted to. But don't worry, I won't do that,” Celine replied.

"Your Majesty Queen Kenna, it's better if I leave. You should take the medicine King Raven brought, which he went to great lengths to obtain from Pandora on Mount Fuji. Don't waste King Raven's sacrifice. I’m sorry if my presence has become a threat to you or your attendants." Celine continued, then stood up and walked backward to leave the Main Tower.

“What are you thinking, Kenna? Don’t trust Celine too much. Maybe she’s just trying to deceive you to gain your trust,”

“That's what I'm thinking, Zyra. What is her real plan? I'm just afraid she wants to seize the throne from King Raven because she believes she can give birth to a child with golden hair, which could put pressure on King Raven.”

“Enough, Kenna. Don't think about that yet. You should rest for your recovery and also for Aria's sake.” Zyra advised.

“You're right, but my question is also whether it's true that King Raven's family killed my family. I haven't found any evidence, and I'm still trapped here.” Queen Kenna clenched her fists on the table, her lips still pale.
