I woke up the next day feeling happy. I felt fulfilled that I wore the chain around Tricia's neck.

"It should show her how much I love her," I said to myself.

Remembering how I maltreated her before, I shook my head and thought of how she might be. For a few weeks, she would live with me; I would show her love.
