Time passed, and although the wounds in my heart slowly healed, the shadows of the past continued to haunt every step I took. I had built a new life in a town far from the Black Moon Pack, but every time I saw the full moon, memories of Daniel and Lisa crept back in. I struggled hard to forget the love I once had, but that love always left a deep mark.
One afternoon, while I was working at the small café where I was a barista, I received a shocking invitation. An invitation to Daniel and Lisa’s engagement party. My heart raced as I read their names, and all the beautiful memories we once shared tried to resurface. I felt trapped in that moment, torn between pain and curiosity.
I knew that attending the party would be the greatest challenge of my life. However, I felt I needed to confront my past, and with courage, I decided to go. I wanted to prove that I had moved on, that I was no longer tied to the painful memories.
The day of the party arrived, and I wore a simple blue dress that radiated elegance. I tried to appear calm, even though my heart was pounding. As I entered the room decorated with twinkling lights and beautiful flowers, the cheerful atmosphere immediately greeted me. However, as soon as my eyes met the couple involved in the celebration, all the confidence I had seemed to crumble.
Daniel stood next to Lisa, looking very happy. His characteristic smile, the smile that once made my heart race, now only made me feel devastated. Lisa wore a beautiful white dress, and as she laughed, I felt a piercing pain in my heart.
Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself. I knew I had to stay strong. I mingled with the other guests, chatting and smiling, but inside, I felt alienated. For several hours, I tried to distract myself, but every time I saw Daniel and Lisa, the pain returned.
As the event moved into its core, Daniel stood in front of the guests, holding a microphone.
"Thank you all for being here for this special moment," he said, his voice full of happiness.
"Today, I want to announce my engagement to Lisa. She is everything to me."
Those words hit me like a hammer. I felt trapped in a wave of emotion. Out there, in front of everyone, Daniel declared his love for Lisa, as if erasing all the memories we had shared. Tears began to flow down my cheeks, but I struggled to hold back my sobs.
Suddenly, Lisa took the microphone.
"I want to share something very important," she said, looking at me with a challenging gaze. "Maya, I know you’re here. You might think you can disrupt our happiness, but you’re wrong. We are the real couple, and you are the traitor!"
All eyes turned toward me, and I felt the tension in the air. I didn’t want to be the center of attention, but Lisa’s words made me feel cornered. With courage, I stepped forward.
"I don’t want to disrupt anything. I just want to congratulate you," I said, my voice calm despite my racing heart.
But Lisa wouldn’t listen.
"You think this is funny, don’t you? You came here to disrupt us, to show that you still love Daniel. But he has chosen me, and there will be no room for you!" Lisa mocked, her smile full of satisfaction.
From the crowd, Daniel looked confused.
"Maya, what’s happening?" he asked.
But Lisa quickly interrupted, "She just wants attention, Daniel. You know who she is. She’s the woman who left you when you needed her."
I felt a mix of anger and sadness.
"I didn’t leave anyone. I fought for you, Daniel. I donated my kidney to save you. I never left, and I will never disrupt your happiness. I’m here to congratulate you."
But my words weren’t enough. Lisa stepped forward, threatening with a sharp gaze.
"Maya, if you dare to interfere with our relationship again, you'll face the consequences. I won't hesitate to protect what is mine," she threatened, her voice full of hatred.
I fell silent, feeling the tension between us. I realized that despite my struggle to forget Daniel, his presence at the party pulled me back into the cycle of pain. I didn't want to be an enemy, but Lisa left me no choice.
With mixed feelings, I decided to leave the party. I didn't want to get caught up in an endless conflict. As I stepped outside, tears streamed down my cheeks. I felt shattered, as if all my efforts and sacrifices had been in vain.
Outside, the night air felt refreshing, but my heart was heavy. I knew I had to let go of everything that bound me, even if it included the love I once had for Daniel. I needed to find myself again, unaffected by the past.
I walked away from the crowd, trying to calm myself. I realized that true love should not be marked by pain and betrayal. I needed to learn to love myself before I could love anyone else. With each step I took, I was determined to rediscover the strength within me, to rise from the darkness that once confined me.
The engagement party would serve as a reminder that while love can be painful, it also teaches resilience.
