  Maya spent a few more hours at my house and soon it was time to leave. I stood up from the couch and headed to the kid's room. I wanted to check up on them because they had been really quiet. 

  I slowly opened the door, so I wouldn't disturb them if they were asleep. But to my surprise, they were wide awake, engulfed in reading their story books.
