I always thought I was very good at keeping my emotions in check but clearly that super power disappeared once my father was involved.

I walked into the house, shocked to see my grandparents in the living room but also slightly relieved because it meant that they would keep dad’s attention off me, or so I thought. Instead, he took one look at me and crossed the length of the room until he was standing directly in front of me.
