I woke to a burning pain, like fire scorching through my skin. I clenched my teeth, holding back a scream. My gaze immediately locked on him—the monster, the beast. If he had a heart, I wouldn’t hesitate to drive a sword straight through it.

I hated him to my very core. All I wanted was to erase him from the face of the earth. Since I couldn’t, taking my life was the only option.
