Ivy’s POV

I stood on the balcony outside the library, my fingers tightening on the railing as the evening wind carried it again. Burnt wood. Not strong enough to be a fire yet, but enough to raise every instinct screaming inside me.

Below, the courtyard looked peaceful. Guards patrolled with the banners of the Pack fluttering in the wind. Everywhere was already decorated in preparation for the big day, just as it was the last time.
