Xavier’s POV

I was not expecting to hear the request from Merryl. I was jubilant, happy that I could feel my child growing healthily in her womb. When she said those words, my joy rapidly vanished. I didn’t realize I was frowning. I couldn’t hide how frustrated I was.

I looked up at her face and the first thing I saw were her lovely eyes; eyes that now shone like glass because of the tears. She sniffed and wiped away the tears. My heart sank to the bottom of my stomach.
