I stare at the necklace for a second longer before I put the box and necklace back where I found them. I’m sure there is a logical explanation for why Victor has them, but I won’t ask him about it.

Things are good between me and Victor, and meh. Perhaps the antique necklace was in Gustaf’s car or something when they dumped him on the street? Or maybe, since the necklace is important to me, Stanley told Victor about it, and then he retrieved it for me as a surprise?
