Nate's POV

I walked into the council meeting still angry from my last encounter with Layla. She was getting on my nerves intentionally, and I wondered where this new her had been all along.

I must admit, this new version of her is quite intriguing, except for the part where she doesn’t care what I think at all. If we hadn’t gotten off on the wrong foot, would we have been cool?

The six elders stood as I walked in with my Beta, Ralph. We all took our seats at the same time.
