My heart nearly stopped. I froze at the doorway, eyes wide, mouth slightly open. Was he hurting her? My feet were glued to the floor, and for a second, I couldn't breathe.

"Maya?" Her voice cut through the fog in my brain.

"We're having sex," she said almost yelling, eyes fluttering open in surprise as she saw me.
