Laughter filled the dining room like music. The walls practically vibrated with joy as forks clinked on porcelain plates, and conversations bounced from one end of the long table to the other.

I sat at the head, watching everyone with a quiet kind of satisfaction, a glass of wine held gently in my fingers.

The family was all here—the people who mattered. It was one of those rare evenings where every person in the room smiled like their hearts were full.
