I jumped up from my seat when I saw through the transparent panes of the full-length window the bright yellowish-red glow blazing, denting the night. The cackling noise of fire reached me even before I could reach the window and glimpse the fire licking up the grass on the patch of low lawn beyond the pool, throwing up ashes in its wake.
