She broke off my hold, and she walked off. I lunged forward to stop her and pull her back, but I knew how strong-headed and resilient she was. That was one of the reasons I married her anyway.

I leaned back then, standing by the top of the street, my arms folded over my chest, and I waited for the scene to play out as I knew it would. She didn't quite know what she was getting into.
