Rico and I both watched him climb up the stairs for his room. The only sound that dented the silence was his feet tapping against the tiles of the stairs.

I shook off the shock, seizing back my mind when he climbed away from view. I hugged my arms as I strolled for the stairs too. Rico raced past me, bumping me with his bigger body so that I swayed to the left, teetering for a brief moment before getting some balance on my footing.
