Liam walked into school cheerfully. His enthusiasm never wavered.

His smile was wide, but his eyes still held sadness over his stepfather's death.

He didn't want me to worry about him.

I hoped nothing bad had happened to him.

I didn't think so. Rogue wasn't racist against werewolves. His classmates wouldn't shun him as long as Liam's behavior wasn't annoying.
