“Give up, Stella. You have nowhere else to go. Accept your fate!” I shouted to him from outside the ruined palace in the abandoned kingdom.

No one answered. Silence reigned, and I knew he was just inside, listening and watching. I could feel his presence, and he wouldn't come out and just give up. I also felt the sharp and angry looks from the creatures around me, but I didn't care.
