"Mommy."

I went quiet for a moment. Samantha has never asked me for her mother. Besides, to her, Michelle is her mother. Could it be that she is missing her?

"Mommy is probably downstairs," I answered her, "I'll get her so you can speak to her."

I placed a soft kiss on her forehead and attempted to leave but her tiny hands wrapped around my sleeves. I stopped and turned back.
