Annabel's piercing scream filled my ears and interrupted my call. Sensing danger, I turned abruptly, in time to find Liam running to me with his outstretched arms and smiling face, but too late to realize the speeding car racing towards us.

My eyes widened as my phone dropped to the ground and ran towards him, hoping to get to him before the car.
