The night was too quiet.

Too still.

Lyra’s breathing heavily as she ran into the woods, her crunching the snow. Everything around her blurred , dark trees, falling snow, little lights from torchlight from the village behind her. All she could hear was that sound, that low, growl echoing through the forest like something alive and angry.
