I turned to the other side, adjusting the pillow beneath my head. As I tried to enjoy the sleep I was having, flashes of last night rushed through my mind. My eyes flew open. I sat up instantly and glanced at the other side of the bed.

It was empty.

I clutched the bed cover against my chest.
