I shot up from bed. I couldn’t sleep. No matter how hard I tried to close my eyes, Ariel was all I could think about. This is wrong. I’d never felt this on edge before. I trusted Maxime so much, he’d never let me down, not once. I’d always told him to look after Ariel, and he’d always done the job perfectly. But why? Why did I feel so uneasy now?
