I shoved past the nurse’s arms as she tried to grab me, her voice sharp in my ear. “Gabriella, stop! Put it down!”

“Don’t touch me!” I screamed, the scalpel flashing in my hand. My chest was heaving, sweat and blood sticking my hair to my face. My uniform stuck to my skin, the blood already drying to color it an ugly brick brown.
