Cassian's POV

The throne room had never felt this suffocating.

I sat upon the obsidian seat that had belonged to king Aldric, then to me, watching as representatives from all three kingdoms filled every available space. Nobles in their finest attire, warriors still bearing the marks of battle, healers who had worked through the night to save lives—they all gathered to witness what would become the foundation of our new world.
