The girl's body lay on the stone floor and her eyes stared at nothing. The healers had tried everything they could but the poison had worked too fast and attacked her body. By the time they'd arrived she was already gone.

I stood over her and felt rage building in my chest. Someone had brought death into my castle. Into my home during a time when we were supposed to be showing hospitality to our guests.
